If you are in the market for a quality SUV that is loaded with great features, it makes sense to take a closer look at the Hyundai lineup. The Tucson is a compact crossover SUV that has been offered since the 2005 model year. The third generation of this popular model was launched in 2016, and the 2018 model received a bold facelift. The Kona is another great option offered by Hyundai. Launched in 2017, this subcompact crossover SUV is one of the newer SUVs on the market today. While you cannot go wrong taking either one of these gorgeous SUVs home, you understandably want to compare the options and find the model that is most well-suited for your needs.

When you select a new SUV, you understandably want it to perform well on the road, and you will not be disappointed with either of these Hyundai models. Both of these SUVs are available with two variations of an inline 4-cylinder engine. The Tucson’s powertrains offer either 161 or 181 horsepower. The Kona comes with 147 horsepower for the standard 4-cylinder engine, and the turbocharged variant delivers 175 horsepower. You can expect both SUVs to have anti-lock brakes, an exceptional suspension system, stability and traction control and several other features that promote superior performance.

Exterior Design

The Kona and the Tucson are 4-door SUVs that offer passenger seating for five adults and that have ample cargo space accessible through a rear liftgate. The Tucson is a larger SUV with a more sophisticated, prominent stance on the road. The Kona is notably a smaller vehicle that sits lower to the ground. It has a forward-facing profile that gives it a sporty look. It also features molding around the rear headlights and more enhanced curvature over the liftgate for differentiation from the Tucson. Both of these SUVs are available in many exterior color options as well as with numerous packages and options.

Interior Design and Features

The 2019 Tucson is available in six trims while the Kona is available four trims. While the base Kona is more affordable than the base Tucson, all trims are loaded with great features and provide true value for the price. Depending on the trim that you select, your new Hyundai SUV may have cloth or leather seating with a split-folding rear seat. Some of the other features may include a power sunroof, a premium sound system, power-adjustable seats, a power liftgate, power windows, speed-sensing power door locks, Bluetooth technology, a color touch screen display for the infotainment system, a navigation system and more. They are both well-appointed with exceptional safety features, including some high-tech and innovation safety features like blind spot monitoring and a forward collision warning.

Because the 2019 Kona and the 2019 Tucson from Hyundai are similar in many years on the surface, it makes sense to stop by our Hyundai dealership soon to make a closer comparison. Our sales team is available to get you behind the wheel of both SUVs to give you a first-hand driving experience.
